Whitewash

Battlemind is the title of the brochure issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to military personnel returning to the UK after their deployment in conflicts. The pamphlet shows how the MoD are well aware of the problems with combat veterans’ re-integration into the community, but also exposes their complete irresponsibility in refusing any accountability for dealing with the extreme violence they purposely implanted into these troops prior to their service in the conflict – clearly the MoD do not want to know about this dark side of the coin.

Nonetheless, ever since the early 1970s, the MoD have been using the technique of implanting intense ‘rage and anger’ in combat troops minds, to ensure they will use extreme violence in destroying other human beings without any thought or hesitation during the conflicts. Outrageously, the MoD did not bother to deprogramme them from this extreme violence on their return to society – they were simply left to cope with this extreme implanted violence alone. This has been a great injustice done to these combat veterans in return for their loyalty and commitment after fighting in the conflicts.

Tragically, it has created a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde syndrome. Dr Jekyll returned from the conflict but also brought home all the savagery and violence of Mr Hyde still embedded in their subconscious minds. Accordingly, if combat troops are conditioned and indoctrinated in pure raw violence to fight monsters prior to their deployment in conflicts, then surely and without doubt many are likely to become monsters themselves unless they are properly de-programmed from this extreme violence once their duty is done.

Battlemind is the official advice of the MoD, but is something that Veterans In Prison (VIP) would call a disgrace, because it seeks to make combat veterans entirely responsible for their actions while washing their hands of their duty to de-programme them of the extreme violence implanted in their minds. The following article is an example taken from the page on Targeted Aggression from the Battlemind pamphlet, along with VIP’s analogical factual responses.

*BATTLEMIND SKILL: TARGETED AGGRESSION
GENERAL AGGRESSION VETERANS’ IN PRISON (VIP) RESPONSE
On Deployment:

  • Split second decisions that are lethal in highly uncertain environments or necessary for survival.
  • Aggression keeps you alert, awake and alive.

On Deployment:

  • Split second decisions are a ‘drilled kill, kill, kill strategy’ – created by intense rage and anger instilled in combat troops minds prior to their deployment in conflicts and it is a necessity for their survival.
  • Aggression ensures they are the best killing machines against the enemy.

At Home:

  • When you return home, you may find that you feel annoyed with other people and may display inappropriate anger, or snap at colleagues. You may find that particular issues or situations can quickly upset you; this may lead you to overreact to minor insults, jokes or comments.

At Home:

  • The key words here are ‘you may’. Whereas in truth the words should read; ‘you will!’.
  • As Combat veterans’ minds are still conditioned in extreme violence and can and will in some cases respond with intense rage and anger – most have no other option because it will not dissipate with time.

Adapting the Deployment Skill:

  • “Operational aggression” involves appropriate responses to real threats in order to remain safe. However, most situations at home don’t require split-second responses.

Adapting the Deployment Skills:

  • “Operation aggression” is the nearest the MoD will admit that they brainwash combat troops in extreme violence. So, unless correctly de-programmed, the violent split – second responses will remain unchanged whether at home or serving in conflict.

Action:

  • If you find yourself becoming angry you should assess whether there is a real threat to your safety. Think before you act and wait before responding (it may help to count to 5); learn to walk away.
  • It may also help to talk to a mate to get a reality check to find out if being angry is the right response. Although this can be initially difficult, the more you do it the easier it becomes.

Action:

  • This is a classic example of MoD turning their backs on their responsibility for implanting this extreme violence in combat veterans’ minds. Their advice of learning to walk away or counting to five is no substitute for proper de-programming to deal with the basics of this implanted violence. In reality, the MoD are leaving the Criminal Justice System (CJS) to clear up and dispose of combat veterans under the guise of criminality!

Shamefully, the MoD or the CJS cannot claim ignorance of this ongoing tragedy because there is too much evidence from the numbers of combat veteran soldiers in prisons. I myself have had to campaign with no amenities whatsoever, no facilities for research i.e., no internet, no computer in fact nothing other than my own and other combat soldiers’ experiences. As I uncovered this issue of violence connected to the extraordinary high numbers of combat veterans in the prison population, through my own and other on the ground combat veterans inside the prison system. Indeed, I also wrote and created a programme called ‘Break Off’ to desensitise combat veterans of their implanted extreme violence.

However, even though VIP constantly alerted and warned past and present Governments of this apparent enigma of high numbers of combat veterans serving sentences for violence in the prison population, our pleas were not only ignored, but even counteracted by the authorities own propaganda, who were doing their upmost at trying to hide the problem by coming out with statements such as: ‘The vast majority of former service personnel go on to lead successful lives following their time in the military and are less likely than their civilian counterparts to come into contact with the Criminal Justice System.

Yes, these words are absolutely correct when you add together ‘all’ Royal Navy, RAF and Army non combatant personnel. But the government never specifically mentions combat veterans, as their disinformation is based on trying to hide the very high proportion of that particular category who are in the prison population, and it is they who are the primary problem!

Hence, the questions VIP ask are as follows:

  1. “Why have the MoD and the CJS consistently ignored the bizarre and steady rise in the high numbers of combat veterans’ in the prison population since the early 1970’s?”
  2. “Do the authorities class combat veterans hidden in the CJS as collateral damage, because of the past and present Governments fixation at engaging in conflicts at all costs?”

Scandalously, past and present Governments of a country that have always asked the military ‘to put their lives on the line’, but supposedly are unaware of the true numbers of combat veterans in the Criminal Justice System serving sentences for extreme violence – “Says it all!”

Conclusion:

I have written a programme called ‘Break Off’ created and based on a military marching foot drill to desensitise combat veteran soldiers from their implanted extreme violence, which also answers their questions:

  • Where does my aggression come from?’
  • When did I become aggressive?’
  • How can I overcome this aggression, as I was never deprogrammed from this extreme violence?
