The greatest betrayal that the Ministry of Defence and the Criminal Justice System have ever imposed on combat veterans and the British public over the past six decades was pretending to be ignorant of the prime reasons for the very high numbers of combat veterans in the prison population, which were the deliberate implanting of extreme violence in combat troops minds, or their suffering from combat related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after their service in conflicts.
Because in reality, when we ignore the implanting of extreme violence in combat troops minds prior to their service in conflicts without bothering to deprogramme them from this violence, or allow them to suffer from combat related PTSD without any diagnosis or treatment once their service is completed – we light the touch paper for unjust and unfair trials, and this becomes the Nation’s shame! Example: The Court case against former Royal Marine Commando Colin Reeves, which looked all proper and legitimate as it included the evidence of two psychiatrists plus a psychologist. The two psychiatrists believed Reeves was not suffering from PTSD, yet the psychologist thought he was suffering from complex combat related PTSD as a result of his tour of duty in Afghanistan. However, as in all combat veterans trials, nothing was mentioned about him ever being deprogrammed from the implanted extreme violence brought with military service in Afghanistan.
Question: “What qualifications in diagnosing and treating combat veterans of conflicts for their implanted violence or their PTSD do these psychiatrists/psychologists possess?”
I ask this question because most psychiatrists/psychologists have very little or no knowledge of the intensive training combat troops undergo in extreme violence prior to their service in conflicts, or of the trauma suffered by combat veterans of these conflicts who have just left the military. You could almost believe that it is the deliberate policy of the Criminal Justice System to have psychiatrists/psychologists who are not ‘au-fait’ in working with combat veterans, because they are only making a token gesture of offering this service that is a box ticked rather than a problem solved. This is mainly to avoid the responsibility for the mountain of combat veterans hidden in the prison population over the past six decades due to non-existent fair or just trials!
Nevertheless, like the many thousands of combat veterans found guilty of using extreme violence over the past six decades without being deprogrammed from this implanted violence, Mr Reeves will be processed into the criminal justice system. It will also be totally different to everything he has ever known, and astonishingly he will find himself in the same prison as the very type of terrorists he was being trained to fight and kill. Sadly, in other words he will be thrown to the wolves and left to get on with his prison sentence and protect himself the best he can from the likes of Islamic extremists. This is in fact a repeat of history, because it was in exactly the same way that I and many other combat veterans were surrounded by IRA terrorists in the prisons during the 1970s, 80s and 90s!
To top it all, the outcome is that whilst in the Criminal Justice System, Mr Reeves, like thousands of other combat veterans in the prison population, will not be rehabilitated in a way that will rid them of their implanted extreme violence or PTSD. Instead they will be placed on ‘Offending Behaviour Programmes’ that were designed to address social, general or domestic violence, but the people who put them together will have little or no knowledge of the intense violence of conflicts and combat related PTSD.
Consequently, when it comes to combat veterans these ‘Offending Behaviour Programmes’ are not fit for purpose, as they will not do anything to help them come to terms with the extreme violence already implanted in their subconscious minds. Nevertheless Mr Reeves will be coerced into doing these programmes like the numerous thousands of combat veterans before him in the prison population – otherwise he will not be released and left to rot in a jail as I have been!
Tragically, let us not forget that combat veterans over the past six decades had this extreme violence implanted in their minds to kill other human beings without any thought or hesitation, so that Britain could be victorious in those conflicts. Therefore, they deserve to be properly deprogrammed from this particular type of training, rather than left to take pot luck over their chances of ending up in prison serving sentences for violence. The country owes them more than this double-cross!
Thankfully, combat veterans can now be deprogrammed from this implanted extreme violence – using the ‘Break Off’ and ‘Focused Meditation and Visualisation’ programmes by Jimmy Johnson. It can and should be introduced into the Criminal Justice System.
