#Shoutout – The Veterans’ Survival Guide, Trevor Wood and the Newcastle Noir Crime Festival Talk!
On Saturday 9 December 2023 at Newcastle City Library #TeamJimmy were delighted that Trevor Wood – award winning author and one of the most exciting voices of contemporary crime writing – mentioned The Veterans’ Survival Guide! Trevor shared with the audience how he discovered Jimmy Johnson’s book whilst researching his first novel The Man on the Street – about a homeless veteran with PTSD.
Trevor even mentioned it in the acknowledgments of The Man On The Street: ‘For those interested in finding out more about PTSD. I would strongly recommend The Veterans’ Survival Guide by Jimmy Johnson, a raw, honest and disturbing examination of a disorder that affects so many ex-servicemen.’
Trevor Wood’s books are a brilliant and gripping read. The Man On The Street, his first novel, was published to widespread critical acclaim and won the 2020 CWA New Blood Dagger.
