By chance, it was the photograph of the four pillars on the front cover which inspired me to write this booklet about combat related PTSD and its disastrous outcome for combat veterans and their families. The photograph reminded me of the upright pillars of society and also of soldiers all standing ramrod straight on parade. Where the danger lurks is not in the calm looking surface of the water but beneath it, because you cannot tell the depth or dangers of the water by just looking at the surface. This is also the way that combat related PTSD works, as symptoms can appear years after veteran’s traumatic experiences, and likewise it is not noticeable what is happening within the minds of veterans on the outside or on the surface of their physical features. Hence the tragic consequences of untreated combat related PTSD in veterans’ minds are precisely like the four pillars being undermined below the surface of the water by this mental disorder.
The following sequence of events of the ‘One to Four’ Pillars of Destruction, will show and identify how combat related PTSD comes into play and unknowingly begins the process of controlling veterans’ subconscious minds. The pillars will also explain why the tragic consequences of not being treated for this mental disorder early on will result in the eventual and entire destruction of these combat veterans and their families’ lives!
